Have you received a text message from Meta Bank? If so beware. Cellular customers in Cedar Rapids have been receiving such messages over the last few days and the police are saying not to give out any personal information. It’s a scam that goes a little something like this; you get a text message saying your security has been breached. Meta Bank then gives you a toll free number to call so they can gather all your sensitive information from you. When you call the toll free number that meta bank supplies you get an automated answering service that asks for your credit card number. At this time Cedar Rapids police can not confirm if the number is legit or not so they are advising you not to give out your information. That only makes sense doesn’t it?
