North Korea threatens US
North Korea threatens US.
North Korea threatened the US by saying it would, “Wipe the US off the map” if attacked. They are referring specifically to the North Korean ship that is on it’s way to Myanmar.
If you think about it this is like president Obama’s Cuban missile crisis. Obama has ratcheted up the pressure and rhetoric against North Korea by speaking out harshly against the latest North Korean missile test. Then there are the new sanctions which are a joke really.
If the new sanctions are not going to be enforced then it marginalizes the United Nations doesn’t it? Enforcing the new sanctions would mean stopping any North Korean ship that is suspected to have nuclear material. This is easy to understand. The US doesn’t want that material in the hands of it’s enemies, specifically Islamic terrorists.
So the US (the UN really) has drawn a line in the sand. But the North Koreans have just announced that any such action by the US would result in the US getting “wiped off the map”
All this is raging on as the North Korean ship makes its way to Myanmar. This is an amazing parallel to the Cuban Missile Crisis would you agree?
What is Obama to do? He is fond of trying to invoke greatness by borrowing lines from old speeches made by great US presidents of the past but will he be able to ACT with the boldness of those same great men?
Men like Lincoln, Roosevelt and Kennedy? What did Kennedy do during the missile crisis? He basically told the Russians that if you try to put those missiles on Cuba the US is going to launch an all-out nuclear attack!
Will Obama let North Korea do as it pleases, or will he do what he has to to keep the US safe from a nuclear North Korea?
North Korea better be careful. The US probably doesn’t want to fight a prolonged war in North Korea right now but at the same time the US can’t afford to let North Korea just sell nuclear materials and arms to just anybody.
This makes me wonder if there is a chance that Obama would actually nuke North Korea. What other choice is there? A conventional war would see millions of South Koreans killed right away. North Korea is ready for the fight but the US has it’s army in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Not to mention things are heating up with Iran.
If the US feels cornered and maybe just a little bit nervous you never know what might happen.
